Friend;
I would like to tell you that i'm working right now in one of the hospitals here in the Philippines. I'm just a casual employee of the said firm and im very much touch with what i'm encountering everyday.
To tell you, i'm very much struct and touched everytime i see those Hemodialysis Patients. They are the ones who are suffering with kidney problems and very much suffering the END STAGE RENAL DISEASE. Having this kind of disease is very difficult since they have to undergo twice a week sessions and each session costs thousands of pesos. I realy can see the the hardships they are getting into not only with the BIG NEEDLES that they cannot almost afford to imagine. But suffering and thinking on where to find the next amount to pay for the next sessions is their biggest problem most especially these people are just very poor and has no enough income to support their needs.Good thing if they have Philhealth but it really is not ENOUGH to fund their expensive treatment. To tell you hemodialysis treament is now their only way and hope to be able to LIVE a little longer in this world with their loved ones.
You know what, i asked myself on how i can help them with my little ways. I choose to pay a QUARTERLY PAYMENT of their Medicare. But because of my very small salary this is only what i can only afford to help...And i'm planning to help build the foundation for hemodialysis patient intended for this very unfortunate people. This is my vision: "Sure Foundation"
Founder: God of Goodness
Assistant: Resty Jabines

God said, "What you do to the lest of your brothers that you do unto me" & "If you help and give with a heart it will be given back to you a hundred folds"...
And don't take this for granted for it is TRUE.

If you have a kind heart and wishes to extend your help, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO HELP BUILD MY VISION AND I ASSURE YOU EVERYTHING WILL BE PAID BACK TO YOU A HUNDRED FOLDS BY THE ALMIGHTY... (Any you can afford will do...)

PS. I'm doing this not for myself but for the sake of others for i know that if i'm the one who will be in great need i can be sure also that GOD is there for me.

Press Release

PyeongChang Opens Bid Book for 2010 Olympic Winter Games
PYEONGCHANG, Korea, Jan. 15 - IOC permitted PyeongChang to release their bid book on Monday after reviewing 423 pages of the documents and ensuring all the aspects of the bid are complete. The PyeongChang's bid book was submitted on Jan. 10. PyeongChang Bid Committee releases the book on 15th on their official website, ( www.pyeongchang2010.com" www.pyeongchang2010.com ) and distributes to the IOC members, press, and other concerned parties.
The bid book, which is in the wooden box, in the shape of traditional Korean gate, covering the details of sports venues, transport infrastructure, accommodations, environmental issues, cultural programs, and IT infrastructures. The philosophy and vision of 2010 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games are the achievement of Olympic goal of ˇ°athlete and game focusedˇ±, the popularization of winter sports in Asia, and the realization of the Olympic Movement of peace and harmony. .
The highlight of the bid book would be the Green Plan that has been developed to meet the third dimension of the Olympic Sprit: the environment. The plan would enables to be an eco-friendly Olympics. PyeongChang is representing clean environments as 84% of its land is covered with forests and it complies with the standard of the WHO.
The committee official says, ˇ°we are planning to promote the Olympic Winter Games by building global camps where international young athletes to experience winter sports and diverse cultures ˇ±
Accordingly, the book includes more details on the plans of the youth ski camps budgeting annually US$2~3million and international youth camp programs which accommodate 500 to 700 participants expecting to spend US$1million.
The Korean government shows strong support for the bid with attachments of letters from the Korean president Kim Dae-jung and the President-elect Roh Moo-hyun, who pledge their support for its bid to host 2010 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games. The government also made a public pledge to the IOC by earmarking 3,877.1 billion won (US$3bn) for expanding infrastructure facilities for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Submitting the bid book, 2010 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee is ready to promote to international level as a candidate city, and extend full strength in preparing for the visit of IOC Evaluation Committee on February 14 to 17, 2003.

i was an admin employee of the manila yacht club and i basically handled the racing events (admin part). i worked with several myc members during the 1994 china sea race and the philippine easter regattas in 1994, and 1995.
the water of the manila bay... hmmmnnnn... well, it's nice to look back and remember the events that i experienced and witnessed at the club. from the opening day in september to the trophy awards night in june. the offshore races were fun too, especially when VVV was the commodore. triple v food and san miguel beers were pouring, and who could forget the "mild" and "wild" parties!
it's nice visiting this website. i know yacht clubs and sailing clubs do get media exposures in the philippines, but creating this website is more helpful and informative. i just hope myc website can be updated too.
thanks.

Unlike all other contributors to this page, we are not sailors. We will, however, be in the Philippines in late February and wonder if anyonw know any companies that might organize 3 -7 day sailing trips around the islands. We're not loaded, so can't charter a big boat for ourselves (there are two of us), so joining an existing trip is a more realistic option. We will initially be flying to Cebu. Please Email before February 26 if you can help. Thanks. John.

Hi. Thanks for the great site. As a kid, I lived in Manila area
from '62 to '72. My father and I spent many afternoons and weekends sailing
out of the Manila Yacht Club. Our favorite over-night spot back then was
Limbones cove. I'd be very interested in finding out if any of the boats
that we sailed back in the "old days" are still afloat. If there are any
sites on the web that have pictures of the fleet, I'd love to know about
it.
Salamat.

Well done, Peter. There are a few other Asia-Pacific sites like
this coming on-line, such as Bali and Phuket, and it would be useful to
have links to these as well. Also, for those sailing the Philippines in
something larger than a Hobie Cat, would it be possible to add a list of
service centres and boatyards for at least Luzon and the Visayas?

Appreciate all the effort you put in promoting this sport here in
the Philippines. I'm presently building a small dinghy as a "first attempt"

I'd be much obliged. For all it's worth, I'd be willing to share my own
experiences also. More power!

Dear Peter,
I appreciate your effort in writing all this for the love of sailing.
HOWEVER, I feel sad that you have put Dennis Cruz in third place (B category)
instead of First - we won it, and even feel very sad that you have forgotten
to put my name with him. Dont you know me anymore? :)

Peter, your site is really cool! Appreciate all the work you put
into it. Spent a whole morning trying to find some real weather info for
a sailor friend who leaves this week Manila to West Palawan (El Nido),
with his own "homemade" boat -- no engine or electronic gear. Still uses
an astrolabe, etc. We found your site by searching for Phil Navy. The FNMOC
site is fantastic! Just what he needed for pressure, wind, etc.
Keep up this great service and we'll plug you to everyone and sailor
I meet!

I would like to have a boat built in the Philippines, probably a
large but simple trimaran much like the local fishing boats. Can anyone
recommend a builder in a place that would be nice to live while the boat
is being built?

may e-"feature" kayo bang mga "boat plans" dito? Mayroon bang paaralan
dito sa atin na mayrong kursong na "Nautical Architecture"? sana e-feature
n'yo rin ang mga lokal "boat designs" Siguradong ako marami gustong maka
kita nang mga "locally designed boats".
Salamat at Mabuhay!

I'm working as a Field Engineer here in Subic. I live in Hood River,
OR, USA and I windsurf in the Columbia River Gorge. We usually have
steady 30+ knot winds in the afternoons. I'm going to have my gear
shipped over here so I can deal with my sailing addiction. I would
be
happy to fore-deck for anyone and just meet some local sailors. Maybe
drink a few beers or teach a little windsurfing if I can find some
gear
around here. Gimme a reply -- happy sailing.

I have a criticism to make about an article included in this site,
namely the warning regarding the Annual Boracay paraw regatta and arts
fest. I was a participant in the event, and had a BRILLIANT time. I found
no flaws in the way the event was organised; or in the regulations of the
regatta. If anything, this event needs more support in order for it to
realise its full potential. I was sincerely disappointed with your statements
which were UNTRUE, OFFENSIVE, and UNFOUNDED. It leads me to question your
knowledge and expertise on traditional paraw sailing. My experience at
the regatta was a very positive one, and my views are shared with the many
other participants who enjoyed time with the local fishermen and the exceptional
artists. I look forward to the next Boracay regatta and would advise anyone
interested to disregard the false warnings given by Sail Philippines.
In FULL SUPPORT of grassroots traditional paraw sailing in Boracay,
and of the 4th Boracay Paraw regatta and arts festival,

Editor's note: We have written to S.H. Krah
in response to this post. So have competitors who read this post, as well
as the Philippine Sailing Association, which has since formally withdrawn
it's support for the regatta. We support Paraw racing very strongly, and
would dearly like to see the organizers clean up their act. We stand by
our statements , including the one that says its a great thing to
watch, or participate in, as long as you are not going out to compete seriously
in the event. To
find out more about this potentially super event, and other Philippine
sailing events, click here,
and click on the Boracay Paraw event.
I was taking satellite maps off internet for typhoon Babs and was

Hello. I have a request. It's kind of strange but I am quite serious
about it. I have tried to find someone from Palanyanki, a small settlement
near Manila. I don't even know if I have spelled it correctly.
In the early or mid 70's an entertainer by the name of Shawn Masters,
a good friend of mine, befriended two little children, a boy and a girl,
who had a large tumor on the side of her head. Through them he met the
woman who took care of these kids. This woman baked little cakes on a one-burner
stove. Shawn bought her a four-burner stove, the whole village was involved
and followed the taxi back to her home. Shawn then took all the children
from Palanyanki? on a picnic. I believe the Navy was involved and gave
the kids boatrides, the police was also involved to give all of them a
good time.
I wonder, I don't know if any of this is ever being written up in
newspapers. Apparently they filled several busses with the children. So,
there were bus drivers, police officers and who knows how many other people.
I know it's almost impossible to find someone now after so many years.
I don't even have a name for this woman. But maybe the police department
might remember something.
If anyone could give me some help in this, I would deeply appreciate
it.
Thanks, helga

I was wondering if you guys know anyone named Ramon Picornell from
Nasugbu, Batangas (he works for C.A.D.P.) ,....I looked at the schedule
and beside March 21, 22, 28, and 29, there was a "Picornell Series" posted.
If possible, please let me know if that is him or not. Whoever it is,...with
a last name like that, I'm pretty sure we're closely related. Thanks.....

I left the island in 1968 and since now I didn't relize how much I
miss her. I started sailing 20 years ago and been racing since. I have
done a lot of racing sponsored by the St. Francis Yatch Club here in San
Francisco and know some of the working Filipinos in the club. I hope to
be racing soon in the Manila waters. I lived in Baclaran,Paranaque real
close to the ocean and we owned property by Taal volcano so when I saw
this website I was just trilled and brought back a lot of memories about
my childhood. I'll be back soon.
Salamat Po!
