Environment

TLYC has been involved in several environmental action programs.

TLYC has been participating in the International Coastal Cleanup organized by the International Marine Alliance (IMA) which is held every September.

TLYC successfully led a campaign which resulted in the Banning of Jetskis on Taal Lake.

TLYC has supported a program led by the  European Community (EC) to study the sustainable fishpen levels in Taal Lake. The program was executed with the heplp Of the University of the Philippines Marine Biology DEpartment headed by Prof. Tus Mamaril.

In Manila, TLYC / MYC Commodore, Peter Capotosto was involved in supporting action to clean up Manila Bay in a case filed by Attorney Antonio Oposa.

We are involved with mountaineering groups and we have initiated conservation efforts on the hiking trails on Volcano island.

We are supportive of new studies, on flora and Fauna of Taal Lake, such as a further study of the Taal Lake seasnake, and other fish that may have adapted from saly, to fresh water, in Taal Lake.

As a Yacht Club, we do not allow any speedboats to be kept at TLYC, unless the owner also has been keeping a sailboat there.
