 July 2003 Hobie Racing

If you don't like the wind, wait 30 minutes.

The wind was different in every race of the 5 race
series.  First race, wind from the East 5kts.  2nd
race wind from the South 5 kts, 3rd  race wind from
the SW double trapezing, and so on.

Getting consistent finishes was pretty tough, I
couldn't manage it.  I came first in one, third  in
another but being next to the tail end, in a "no
drops" series, doesn't cut it.

Rex, racing "Waling Flowers" and Nestor, racing "Suunto", managed it. Rex, in fact, barely edged Nestor out, by just half a point.  Interestingly, he never won a single race,  he merely stayed in  the top 25% of the fleet.

Art and Charlie's "Team Techno Marine" placed Third.

Congratulations to Monchu for winning his first race.

We got 9 boats out racing. Good fun.

Pictures:

"just as the wind comes up, 9 minutes to start...and
that Topper is capsized on the starting line!" - yeah, and we're still on the beach- but thats not unusual.

Boats going out for race 3.

Noki performs his X-Men rendition of how "Wolverine" died while doing a McDonald's commercial.  Also pictured, Rex, Nestor,  Lex (who's first time it was racing. good too! ) Art, and Charlie.

Renies 1st Hobie 16 race. Nice job of fixing up an old boat.

Cons Castaneda, his son Daniel, and Maricar Mascunana go for a liesurely weekend sail. The Maligaya sailors have been in heavy attendance this month. Are they preparing for the annual Tali/TLYC interport? Actually TLYC is extremely grateful for their support. Badminton
Noel Lim wants to know who on this list is interested in Badminton. He is putting a plan together for renting some courts in Magallanes Village to have a fun tournament between TLYC sailors and the Windsurfers.
