STANDARD NOTICE OF RACE FOR CLUB EVENTS
Effective 1 July 2004
The Standard Notice of Race, the Standard Sailing Instructions and the
TLYC Safety Instructions apply to all racing at TLYC unless amended or
superseded by a Notice of Race and/or Sailing Instruction for a particular
event or series of races.
1 Race Programme
The Race Programme and any amendments is published on the TLYC web
page, and/or the TLYC e mail newsletter and/or on the Official Notice board
in the TYLC Training Tent.
2 Eligibility
Individual
Entry is not restricted to Club Members. Any individual may apply to
sign up for racing. In order to encourage new and inexperienced sailors
racing may be divided into divisions for the purpose of establishing results
and awarding prizes. The Race Committee will maintain a list of helms in
each division based on their experience, age, racing achievements and the
number of helms in each division.
Classes

Hobie 16 Class – Any Hobie 16 that conforms to the Hobie 16 Class
Rules of the International Hobie Class Association

Open Catamaran Class – Any beach catamaran with a Portsmouth Yardstick
(PY) number. Upon request the Race Committee will allocate a PY Handicap
number to any boat that wishes to join the racing. The number may be adjusted
based on the boats performance or on the combined performance of boat and
helm.

Topper Class – Any Standard Topper that conforms to the Topper Class
Rules

Laser Class – Any Laser that conforms to the Laser 1 Class Rules

Open Dinghy Class - Any dinghy with a Portsmouth Yardstick (PY) number.
Upon request the Race Committee will allocate a PY Handicap number to any
boat that wishes to join the racing. The number may be adjusted based on
the boats performance or on the combined performance of boat and helm.
3 Safety Instructions
All Competitors should familiarise themselves with the TLYC’s Safety
Instructions for Competitors which is published on the TLYC web site and
on the Official Notice Board. It is a requirement of these instructions
that all competitor, helm and crew, register before going on the water.
4 Fees
The racing fees are p350/boat/day for events not including lunch, unless
otherwise announced in the newsletter, event NOR, or announced on
the notice board.
5 Sailing Instructions
The sailing instructions including the course descriptions will be
published on the Club web site and will be available at registration, either
as individual docs, or posted on the notice board.
6 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own
risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept
any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained
in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
